Conservation officers have laid charges against one person after a deer and fawn were run down by a truck near Maryfield.

Conservation Officers responded to a report from the night of March 9 when witnesses observed a truck chasing and deliberately running over deer in a field on the outskirts of Maryfield.

Upon arriving on scene, conservation officers discovered the remains of two white-tailed deer fawns, along with the scavenged remains of a third deer.

They say evidence indicated that two trucks were involved—one actively pursuing the animals while the second watched. Both vehicles fled the scene when witnesses approached.

The incident was reported on Sasktip, which offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individuals involved.

Conservation officers did not release the name of the individual who was charged and determined that the second vehicle was also a witness and was not part of the incident.
